Students place at annual AIChE Midwest Regional Conference

Undergraduate and graduate students of the UIC Department of Chemical Engineering recently participated in the 18th annual American Institute of Chemical Engineering Midwest Regional Conference.
“The conference was an enlightening experience, offering valuable opportunities to discuss our research with academic and industry experts and to learn from the AI-focused career panel,” said PhD student Minoo Mosadegh. “These experiences broadened our perspective on real-world challenges and emerging trends while showcasing UIC’s state-of-the-art research.”
Winners from this year’s conference include:
- First Place Poster Presentation Graduate: Electrochemical Nitrate Reduction to Ammonium – Atefeh Nadeali
- Second Place Poster Presentation Graduate: Electrochemical Fingerprinting of PFAS Using Molecularly Imprinted Polymer Sensor Arrays – Minoo Mosadegh
- First Place Poster Presentation Undergraduate: Clean Fuel, Clean Skies – Ethanol to Jet Fuel Pathway – Joshua Olusoji
- Second Place Poster Presentation Undergraduate: Fischin for Cleaner Skies – Anna Cai
- Third Place Poster Presentation Undergraduate: CO2 to Olefins – Hiba Naqvi
This year’s event was hosted by Illinois Institute of Technology.
